Orchards Community...
"Everybody's serving here, and doing their part - as we all get together in God's Big Backyard." These lyrics from our theme song are a great reflection of what we've experienced two days into God's Big Backyard VBS here at Orchards. The Church has been filled over the last couple of nights with kids from all over our community as they learn about serving and following Jesus. It's a pretty amazing experience to see so many kids playing, singing, and learning here. And even as I write this, there are still three nights left! - it is not too late to get the kids in your life plugged into this. We will be meeting every evening, through Thursday, 6:30 - 8:30 PM. Drop by one of the nights and check it out. It really is an awesome thing to be a part of.
As we gathered on Sunday, we reflected on Jesus' stories of a treasure in the field and pearl of great value... it wasn't even a question to those who found these - sell everything for this, it is worth it all and more. This is how Jesus describes life in the kingdom, it's worth giving up everything to be part of. It is the challenge we face everyday... to choose His way or our own - but when we understand the value of His way, is there really a choice? What an amazing thing life in Jesus is.
When we're together again on Sunday we'll wrap up our disciple series - we really hope you can be with us as we gather again at 10 AM.
You're invited to stick around after our time together Sunday morning as we have a celebration picnic, in gratitude for an amazing week in God's Big Backyard. The picnic begins at 11:30 AM, and everyone is encouraged to bring a side dish to pass.
This summer is flying by! Here are a few things to mark on your calendars as August approaches...
* The youth is going to Cedar Point! On Wednesday, August 13 we will get out of bed really early to meet at the Church. The plan is to fill a charter bus with youth to go to (that state below us) the Roller Coaster Capital of the World.
The Youth will continue to meet every summer Sunday, 6 PM, at the Church.
* Brown City Family Camp begins Thursday, July 31. There is more info on this at the Church... Pastor Hossler and I will be heading up to camp quite a bit - let us know if you want to go up with us on one of the evenings. This is a great year to check it out.
* Plans are in being made now for our next baptism service... Please contact Pastor Hossler - jeffhossler@sbcglobal.net if you have any questions or if you're ready to "take the plunge."
Each night our kids leave VBS determined to serve someone in their life... what a great example for all of us to always be aware of people in our lives that we can serve, and in doing so, share the hope and love we have found in Jesus. It is our hope that the Orchards Community Church is a community where you feel you can ... Celebrate, Connect, and Contribute ... If you have any questions about what this means we'd love to help you. Thanks for joining us in our journey to be the people that God has created and called us to be here in Romeo, Almont, and the surrounding communities - We love celebrating, connecting, and contributing with you side by side.
Blessings,
